How Can I Join?
Step 1: Apply for the lottery!
The ASD lottery is an online application system used to provide an equal opportunity for all students to attend schools outside a student's neighborhood and specialized programs like Eagle River Elementary's Open Optional program. Students who do not reside within our school's neighborhood boundary or who would like to attend our Open Optional program need to apply through the school lottery system.
The lottery systems runs twice a year with dates varying slightly each year. The Spring lottery opens for applications at the beginning of February and closes mid-March. The Fall lottery opens mid-April and closes mid-July. After the lottery runs, notifications to families will be sent the week after closing, and after the results of the lottery are released, families have 2 school days (48 hours) to accept or decline their spot. If families do not accept their spot within 48 hours, their spot is automatically declined and their seat in the program forfeit.
If your child already attends Eagle River Elementary as a result of the lottery, there is no need to reapply each year; they may continue attending until they age out of our school or until they withdraw into another school/program.

Step 2: Accept Your Seat & Enroll
