SOAR Expectations

S: During arrival and dismissal, students will be safe by walking directly to their destination, staying put, talking softly, keeping hands, feet, and belongings to themselves, and by arriving fifteen minutes prior to the start of school.

O: We will act as one community during arrival and dismissal by respecting others’ space and setting technology for learning by turning off or putting all personal tech into airplane mode and placing them in backpacks before entering the building.

A: Students will hold themselves accountable during arrival and dismissal using appropriate conversation and/or language, securing items and leaving them in their backpack, knowing their dismissal plan, and knowing their bus/car number.

R: Staff will model expected behaviors and represent by supervising students at all times, knowing locations of our students, and setting our technology for learning.

S: While in the hallways, students will be safe by walking directly to their destination and by having permission and a hall pass.

O: We will act as one community in the hallway by using walking feet, using appropriate voice levels, and by keeping to the right.

A: Students will hold themselves accountable in the hallway by walking directly to their intended destination, and by staying in line when walking as a class.

R: Staff will model expected behaviors and represent by enforcing safety policies, monitoring students by being at their doors and in the hallway, and by providing hallway passes for students.

S: While in the lunchroom, students will be safe by throwing away their trash, cleaning up their space, staying in their seat, and eating only my own food.

O: We will act as one community by being patient, staying in line when waiting to get hot lunch or to go to recess, and by pitching in to maintain a clean lunchroom.

A: Students will hold themselves accountable in the lunchroom by maintaining a clean space, using appropriate language and conversation, and keeping food on the table or in their mouths.

R: Staff will model expected behaviors and represent in the lunchroom by dropping off and picking up students on time and by walking students directly into the cafeteria.

S: During recess, students will be safe by dressing appropriately, following recess expectations, reporting problems to the staff on duty, following adult directions, and lining up quickly and quietly at the end of recess.

O: We will act as one community by including others, sharing resources, and caring for our playground and equipment.

A: Students will hold themselves accountable during recess by returning equipment and by using appropriate conversation and language

R: Staff will model expected behaviors and represent by dropping off and picking students up on time, actively monitoring students during recess at their station, and setting technology for safety.

S: While using the restroom, students will be safe by getting permission and using a pass, walking directly to their destination, allowing for the privacy of others, washing their hands, and reporting any problems to their teacher.

O: We will act as one community by doing our part to keep the restaurant clean, conserving resources, and by using the 2/2 rule: 2 pumps of soap and 2 paper towels.

A: Students will hold themselves accountable in the restroom by getting permission and using a pass, using the sign out system in the classroom, managing their time, and by going, flushing, washing their hands, and leaving.

R: Staff will model expectations and represent by establishing and monitoring the classroom sign out system and by providing passes for students.

S: Students can be safe and successful when following behavior expectations by using the “Stop and Think” method, talking to an adult when needed, and by asking for help immediately.

O: As one community, we can be successful when following behavior expectations by moving away from conflicts or distractions and by using CHAMPS.

A: Students can be successful while holding themselves accountable when following behavior expectations by asking for help when needed, having a calm body, and remembering to be positive, responsible, safe, and respectful.

R: Staff can be successful when modeling and representing behavior expectations by practicing expectations, being consistent, being engaging with students, communicating, and by being positive!
